Mcdonald's Fried Chicken Head.

I'm pretty sure this is kind of old news, but this is the first time I've heard it, so...
Anyways, this person ordered some chicken mcnuggets or somethign like that, and they got a fried chicken head in their order. This story was all over the news, for a few days, and it was pretty gruesome to see that they got a chicken head...
Imagine ordering at Mcdonald's and you get this in your order... I would definitely scream and demand my money back. I mean how careless would you be to put a chicken head in a customer's order?!
I don't think I'll ever eat at Mcdonald's again. Just in case I find some kind of cow eyeball in my meat...
But hey, at least now we know they use real chicken!

$ Money Money Money $

Hi everyone!
My topic today : Money
Yup, the big Cha-Ching. Now money is the most important thing that anyone could ever own. You couldn't live without money. You'd be on the streets without it. It's common sense up to there, but now we have people lying through their teeth for it and people killing others because they are hungry for money. We have those who decide that instead of earning your own money fair and square it would be much easier to just rob/mug a person and take everything. It seems that people are getting more and more untrustworthy. We still have the good people in the world, but unfortunately, we have the bad mixed in with them. Before, people stopped to help those whose car had broken down in the middle of the highway. Now, people are afraid to stop because they could be just those sick people who decide that they would go out and mug someone. If the people are actually stuck, then that's just too bad for them, because not many people would stop for them anymore.
That's just sad. -sigh-
And another thing. Let me tell you a story.
There was a boy and his mother in a restaurant when the boy started choking on his food. His mother started to freak out when a man jumped up and started doing the heimlich maneuver on him. The food came out, but in the process, he had broken one of the boy's ribs. But anyways, in the end the food came out and the man saved his life. And guess what he mother did. She sued him for breaking his rib. I mean, sure, breaking a rib is pretty bad, but if he didn't step up and do the heimlich, then the boy would've choked to death. Anyways, she took her case to court and she won it. She won because the judge decided that because the man didn't have a medical degree he wasn't certified to do the heimlich. It kind of sounds like he's saying the man should've just left the boy alone just because he didn't have a medical degree. So unfortunately, the man served jail time.
Save a life, Get Sued. HA.
TOTALLY NOT FAIR! No, don't say it. Don't say life's not fair. Don't want to hear it.
So now, if someone is choking in a restaurant, people who know the heimlich are afraid to do it because they might get sued for doing it but not having a medical degree.
ARGH
It makes me so angry to hear it...

Anyways, I just thought that I would put that out there... The things people do... especially for money.
Alrighty then, I'll be back soon!

Book Review #15 ~ Schooled

Hi everyone!
I have SO many good books that I absolutely must share with you, and this is just one of them. This one is also pretty well known; It's called...
Schooled - Gordon Korman
We have our hippie Cap Anderson. (Cap is short for Capricorn.) He has been homeschooled by his Hippie grandmother who raised him. Cap has never watched T.V., tasted a pizza, or heard of a wedgie. When his grandmother falls off of a ladder and lands herself in the hospital, he is forced to move in with a guidance counselor and attend Claverage Middle School. He doesn't know anything that a "normal" kid would know, so he obviously has a hard time adjusting to Middle School. He is the strange kid to everyone until people slowly start to get to know him and befriend him. He teaches students to tye-dye T-shirts and pretty soon many are joining him for his morning tai-chi. He learns to fit in ... at least a bit better than before. The students start to accept his differences as they realize that they could have a few things that they could learn from him. However, he feels like his whole world has been turned upside-down because he can't understand the reason for certain things that everyone knows as normal and everyday things.
I thought this was a very... very capturing book. Once I sat down with the book, I didn't put it down 'till I finished it. It has an interesting plot and I was dying to know what would happen next in Cap's chaotic world. I suggest that you put this on your "Must Read" list ~~
Well, until next time people, bye bye!

Merritt, B.C.

Hi Guys!
I was going to write another book review, but I decided three book review in a row might start to get a little bit boring... or maybe I was wrong. But whatever.
So I went all the way to Merritt, B.C. on Saturday. For those of you who don't know where Merritt is (Probably most of you) it's three hours South...North... East... West... Okay I don't know but it's three hours away from Vancouver in one of those directions. Of course, I slept for two of those three hours and according to my mom did not get to see the beautiful scenery which turned out to be cows and pastures and the smell of poop for as far as you could see... and smell. So boy am I glad that I fell asleep. We took the famous Kokahala Cocahala Kocahala Cocacola (Gosh I can't believe I spelled that wrong so many times... BUT HEY IT'S HARD TO SPELL) Coquihalla highway to Merritt. It's pretty much really long and high up. Not much really... Okay so we were on that highway when suddenly the gas ran out. Thankfully the car didn't stop dead in the middle of the highway, but we were now running on emergency fuel and we needed a gas station fast. But like I mentioned before, the highway is long. Endless. We still had around 30 more minutes to go. Hoping there would be a gas station if we turned into an exit, we did, but came to another road-with almost no people. When a car drove by my dad got out of the car and got the people to stop, and asked them where the nearest gas station was. The people said the nearest one was 30 minutes away. We explained that we were running on emergency fuel and we couldn't last for 30 minutes, even though that probably wouldn't have solved the problem. But these nice people said that they had a gas can at their house which was only a few minutes away from where we were standing, and told us to follow them to their house. Thank goodness those people showed up or else we would really be stuck in the middle of the highway. So we followed them up to their cute little house (It was sky blue and it looked like a house for your dolls to play in) and they filled our gas tank up. At that point to us they felt like angels sent from heaven. So we kept driving... until we got to the house. It was a really nice house with windows everywhere and 25 acres of land! They even had a barn with horses! And there were these cute little mice running around outside...
So the whole reason we were there is because my parents had to discuss something to do with business that I wouldn't really care about. It was like a business meeting. We were
there for around 5 hours, and guess what I got to do for five hours?! I GOT TO ....
read. Yippee. I really sat there reading for five hours and I finished an entire book. (I will do a book review on it later) And after reading for five hours, guess what we got to do next! We got to DRIVE BACK FOR THREE HOURS! YAY! No, but really, after 6 hours of driving and 5 hours of reading, I was pooped. I got home and slept until the next day.
Anyways, that's pretty much all I did there. I just thought I'd tell you about my day of sleeping, looking out the window, sleeping, reading, then sleeping again. It sounds relaxing, but not when you have NOTHING ELSE TO DO BUT SIT THERE. Oh well. I enjoyed the sleeping part though~~
Alrighty then. See ya' later folks!

Book Review #14 ~ Where the Red Fern Grows

Hi again! As I said I would, I am back with another fantastic book. I'm sure most of you have heard of it before, for it's a classic. It's... -DRUMROLL-
Where The Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls !
I certainly enjoyed it, and I hope you people will get a chance to read it too!
There's also a movie out, but I suggest you read the book first...
Alright, let's get to the story.
So it takes place a long time ago, way back when every man in the family new how to hunt and a meal costed just afew cents.
And our protagonist Billy had been wanting two hunting dogs of his own for as long as he could remember. He had begged his parents for the dogs more times than any person could ever count. His parents would've been happy to get the dogs for Billy, but unfortunately, their financial situation put them in a position where they could barely afford to feed their family of 6. After years of asking, Billy decided that he would earn the money for his dogs himself. So every day for the next two years Billy worked and worked, his money increasing quite noticably, until the day when he had enough money to go to town and get the two hunting hounds once and for all.
He had been waiting for that day for so long, and at last, he had his two hounds. Bringing them home, he was running various ideas for names through his head when he came across a tree with the names Ann + Dan with a heart carved into it. And so they were named, Little Ann and Old Dan. He started training them to catch racoons right away, and they certainly were quick learners. Right away they caught on and pretty soon Billy and the dogs were out hunting every night. He had caught dozens of 'coons which were all hung up for sale in his grandfather's store. Of course by this time, they were quite famous throughout the small village and many respected Billy and his dogs for capturing so many. And indeed, it was enough to be jealous of. Racoons are the hardest to catch, being so cunning and clever, but they were no match for the two dogs that Billy was ever so proud to own. Little Ann and Old Dan made the best pair any hunter could ever ask for. Little Ann is smart and light on her feet, while Old Dan is powerful and always prepared. They enter in a contest to see who catches the most racoons. The competition lasts for a few days, but on the last day of hunting, the day of the finals, a blizzard hits. Billy's dogs are nowhere to be seen and his grandfather trips and twists his ankle badly.
The ending I will not spoil for you, because you must read it and see what happens. You will also find out why the book is called "Where The Red Fern Grows." The reason is revealed at the very very end. I have to say that I did shed a few tears reading the ending, and I don't usually cry reading a book... so it obviously means that it's a spectacular read.
Well, stay tuned folks, and I'll be back with more fantastic books!

Book Review #13 ~ Words That Start With B

Hi everyone! So I've read quite a few good books when I was in L.A. (I will be writing more reviews later.) and this is one of the best.
This is Words That Start With B by Vikki Vansickle.
It is about this girl named Clarissa who is just starting Grade 7, and she expects it to be the best year ever. Her and her best friend Benji had long awaited the year when they will have Mrs. Ross-the best teacher ever. She is the most liked teacher in the school, and the time has finally come when they would be able to enjoy school. Unfortunately, Grade 7 turns out not to be as great as she thought that it would be. Clarissa's life suddenly gets thrown into distress as things at school and at home are turned upside-down. Mrs. Ross is suddenly gone, and is replaced by lame and boring Mr. Campbell, which defeats the whole purpose of anticipating the Seventh Grade for only her entire school life. She develops some feelings for a certain boy, and makes a friend of the person she hates most. Everything is confusing for Clarissa, and she tries to make sense of it all as she goes through something like the worst moments of her life so far.
This book was amazing. I loved the fact that every part of it was realistic, and that Clarissa went through some of the events that all of us have been through a few times. You could really relate to it throughout the whole book. I absolutely loved it!

Back From L.A.

Hello Everyone!
Oh, I missed you all so much...
But I have come to tell you about my wonderful trip to L.A. It really was great.
The weather was great, the academy experience was fun, and I got the chance to make new friends. It was a great experience for me to go there! The palm trees there?
B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L.
But it's great to be at home. It's rainy and chilly, but it's still home.
Alright, so I will warn you beforehand that this will be quite a long blog post. No, wait! Don't leave! You try fitting a whole two weeks into one blog post. Not so easy.
When we first got there, we stayed at my mom's close friend's house. We were there the whole two weeks, in fact. The first day we got there, shopping at outlets, relax. The prices at the outlets? Maybe 10 times cheaper than the prices here in Vancouver. Fell in love with the frozen yogurt shops there. Why don't we have shops like that in Vancouver? Gosh, it was really good. There are around 15 different toppings and different flavours of frozen yogurt, and it tastes so fresh and cold... dare I say... even better than ice cream?
Anyways, let's start with the academy.
So my mom's friend owns this academy; she started the whole thing. I got to take English lessons and Algebra 1. I have to admit, it wasn't the BEST TIME OF MY LIFE but it wasn't as bad as studying during the summer sounds. We went on fieldtrips every Wednesday and had golf lessons every Tuesday and Thursday Afternoons. It was actually pretty fun, now that I think about it...
American work is a lot harder than Canadian work. Everything that you do there is a little bit more advanced/challenging than in Canada. I guess I thought that the work there was better, just because you never got bored learning the same thing OVER and OVER again. Not that we do that in Canada...
Sorry I'm jumping from subject to subject, it's just that I need to get my ideas out right now while I have them.
The student's ages range from 5~13. Grade 1 to Grade 8. Basically they teach you what you will learn in the grade you are going into next, and so it's preparing you for the next grade's work. For over-achievers. -^-^- Really Helpful though, so I'm very glad that I went. I would've liked to stay longer and study, but... I was kind of homesick.
We wrote lots of essays, and after reading a excerpt from a book or reading a whole book, we would do a vocabulary section and a reading comprehension section + we would write an essay. It's quite a bit of work, but it was all worth the experience. I had the best teachers, and my English teacher was very... um... detailed with her marking. She took the time to write down comments about my essays and stuff and marked everything... with A LOT of detail. I'm talking red pen markings ALL over the page. It is kind of ugly to look at, because it looks like lots of mistakes, but gradually, they started to disappear until I only had just a few on my page. At first I was kind of shocked to see this many mistakes on my page, but then I accepted it and tried my best to do better on the next essays. I was thankful for such a great teacher who took time out of her day to help me improve my writing. Oh, and my Algebra teacher, she was extraordinary. She knows the answer to every problem and can help anyone with anything. She is a math genius. She is so patient, and when a student complains that he (I'm not naming names but -heehee- there's this boy who did this) doesn't get it without even reading the question, she is completely willing to help him out. I had the best teachers there.
The studies start at 9:30 in the morning, and we have math first, until 12:30. Math for three hours. I know people that are in my class (at school) who complained that 1 hour was too much. WELL TRY THREE HOURS! Same for English, and then we would end at 4:30.
So that's pretty much everything about the Spider Smart Academy.
After going there, my mom took me to Disneyland for two days! Yep, the happiest place on earth. IT WAS SO FUN. SUPERB. FANTASTIC. WONDERFUL. AMAZING. fuperbasticfulmazing. Yes, it was that great. I mean, the name itself is self-explanatory; the happiest place on earth. Gotta' agree with that~~
So, that was pretty much the end of my trip. It was a really great experience, and next year, I would definitely like to stay the whole summer for the program!
